Veterans Dinner

Our Annual Veterans Dinner will be held again this Thanksgiving Day. This will be our 12th year and the event continues to grow. We had over 50 Vet last year and would love to have more. If you know of a Veteran that would like to join us for dinner on Thanksgiving day, invite them down or you can give their name and address to one of the officers and they will make sure they get a invitation. If you would like to help with the dinner please contact Tom Nessman and he will find you a spot on the team.

We had a great crew of volunteers last year helping with the dinner. They were as follows: Jen Foster, Tom Nessman, Annie and Robbie Lundin, Woody Meier, Ken and Cathy Lillie and their granddaughters Morgan and Kennedy, Sarge and Elanore, Sharon Shook and her grandson Nolan, Kevin, Lorrie, Audra and Karina Kiewel, Mike and Janet Rigg and their daughter Megan and grandkids Kelsey and Abbey , Mickey Darrough, Mark Shook, Tom Stolen and Deb Mueller.

Deer Hide Program

Its Deer Season again which means its time for our annual Deer Hide Collection Program. For those that aren't familiar how this works, let me try to clarify. We collect hides from local hunters, our resident professional deer hide prep guy Jim Miller then covers the hides in salt and stacks them in a container for pickup. At the end of the season these are all picked up and taken to a tannery. There, we are given 1 tanned hide in exchange for every 3 hides we turn in. These tanned hides are then given to Veterans groups to make leather items such as wheelchair gloves. This is a VERY time consuming process and Jim has done this for a number of years.

If you know of a Veteran who is in need of a pair of wheelchair gloves let one of the officers know and they will see to it they get a pair.

If you see Jim Miller around the Lodge, thank him for all of his efforts. He is one of the many volunteers that quietly do the work our organization was created to do!
